Lateral Transfer

There are basically four types of horizontal transitions in our higher education system:

1. In-house horizontal transition

It is the

transition between equivalent diploma programs within the same university. The student must have completed at least one semester, excluding the preparatory class, must be above the minimum achievement threshold declared in the application process, and not have received disciplinary action. Applications are made to the declared quotas; the evaluation is carried out according to the order of success and the course credit of the admitted student is decided by the relevant committee.

2. Cross-institutional horizontal transition (programmes equivalent to GNO)

It is held between the same level and equivalent programs in different higher education institutions. The student must complete at least one semester in the program in which he is enrolled, meet the lowest achievement threshold of the GPA declared in the application process, and meet the entry requirements of the program he wishes to pass (for example, if there is a success order requirement). Within the quota, applications are sorted on the basis of success; in case of admission, it is determined by the decision of the selection commission which of the previous courses will

be counted.

3. Horizontal transition from higher education institutions abroad

Students enrolled in a higher education institution abroad may apply for transfer to a program recognized by the Board of Higher Education and with program equivalence. The equivalence of the foreign institution in which the student is enrolled, the program must meet the basic achievement requirements sought in our country, and the GPA must meet the lowest achievement threshold declared in the application process. Applications are made to the declared quotas and the course adaptations of those accepted are made by the relevant board.

4. Horizontal transition with central placement point (Supplementary Article)

The

student may benefit from this right once if the central placement score obtained in the year of enrollment is equal to or higher than the base score of the program in which he or she wishes to pass in the same year. In this method, GPA and class completion requirement are not sought; quotas are announced by the university and applications are finalized according to grade superiority. Receipt of the course of the admitted student is made in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.
